Breed grooming guide
Shih Tzu grooming
The Shih Tzu's flowing coat is beautiful, but it doesn't shed and grows continuously, so without regular grooming it quickly becomes matted and uncomfortable.
The coat
Understanding the Shih Tzu coat
Shih Tzus have a long outer coat and a soft undercoat. Hair around the face grows towards the eyes, so keeping the eye area clear is important for comfort and eye health.
- Coat type
- Long, double coat; continuously growing
- How often
- Every 4 to 6 weeks
- We recommend
- Full Groom
