Cockapoo grooming

Cockapoos are one of the most popular dogs we see in Cheshire, and one of the most likely to mat. Their soft, low-shedding coat holds on to loose hair instead of dropping it, so regular professional grooming is essential.

The coat

Understanding the Cockapoo coat

A Cockapoo's coat can be anything from loose waves to tight curls, often changing as they grow out of their puppy coat between six and twelve months. Mats tend to form behind the ears, under the collar, in the armpits and on the legs, often close to the skin where you can't see them.

Caring for your Cockapoo at home

  1. 01

Brush right down to the skin two or three times a week with a slicker brush, then check with a metal comb.

  2. 02

Pay extra attention behind the ears, under the collar and in the armpits.

  3. 03

Dry thoroughly after muddy walks. Damp curls mat far faster.
