Breed grooming guide
Cocker Spaniel grooming
Cocker Spaniels are among the most-loved breeds in Cheshire, and their silky coats and long ears need regular, skilled care to stay comfortable and looking their best.
The coat
Understanding the Cocker Spaniel coat
Show Cockers and working Cockers have quite different coats. Show-type coats are heavier, with more feathering. The long ears are prone to tangles and, because they hang down, to ear problems, so regular ear cleaning matters.
- Coat type
- Silky with feathering on ears, chest, legs and belly
- How often
- Every 6 to 8 weeks
- We recommend
- Full Groom
Popular styles
Traditional spaniel trim
A neat head, tidy feet and shaped feathering on the legs, chest and ears.
Practical pet trim
Feathering taken shorter for easy care, keeping the classic spaniel outline.
Partially hand-stripped
The head and back hand-finished to keep coat texture and colour, with the feathering scissored.
