Breed grooming guide
Yorkshire Terrier grooming
Yorkies are tiny but full of character, and their fine, silky coat needs gentle handling and regular trims to stay tangle-free.
The coat
Understanding the Yorkshire Terrier coat
A Yorkie's coat is single-layered and fine, so it tangles easily but sheds very little. Hair on the face and ears grows long, so tidying around the eyes and ear tips keeps them comfortable.
- Coat type
- Fine, silky single coat, similar to human hair
- How often
- Every 6 to 8 weeks
- We recommend
- Full Groom
Popular styles
Puppy trim
Short and even all over. The most popular pet Yorkie style.
Topknot
A longer head with hair tied away from the eyes.
