Golden Retriever grooming
Goldens shed, and a lot. Regular professional bathing and a thorough blow-out removes far more loose undercoat than brushing at home, and a neat tidy keeps them looking smart.
The coat
Understanding the Golden Retriever coat
Golden Retrievers have a double coat that insulates against both cold and heat. It should never be shaved, because shaving can damage the way the coat regrows. Instead, the undercoat is washed and blown out, and the feathering, feet and ears are tidied.
- Coat type
- Dense, water-repellent double coat with feathering
- How often
- Every 6 to 8 weeks, more often when shedding
- We recommend
- Shampoo, Bath & Tidy
